Oh. I always thought it was 3D too, since I perceived I was seeing depth, and I always compared it to the old cartoons in 2D.

Don't count on them becoming obsolete. New technologies take a lot of time to take root. Especially considering the production costs and post production costs involving 3D.

Yes, there will be 3D, but don't expect it to hit your local news channel anytime soon.

My private hope is that this will merely become a more effective tool, rather than "the new format."

There is also super HD on the horizon. Should be cool.

3d right now is a gimmick. Only Avatar took the time and money to do it correctly. All this other garbage coming out is just that.. and don't expect it to change for awhile.

I could care less about 3d TV, I always have a TV on ( I even have a 32" LCD in the garage, but I rarely sit and just watch something intently. BUT if I were a gamer, that would be cool.
