40 0r 42" LCD TV: Samsung, Sony, ?
I have been looking for a TV to replace the old tube in my bedroom and have found the more I learn about LCD TV's the harder it is to make a damn decision
I'm sure any 40 or 42" TV will do, but I don't know where to look for the real deal on these things and my quest isn't high-end enough for the expert forums.
I'm partial to the Samsung LN-40A550 (2008 model) which I found on B&H for under $1,000 with free shipping. With 3 HDMI inputs it should handle a XBOX 360, HD/DVR box, and surround sound system just fine. Can't do plasma because the room has a lot of windows (too bright). That's really all I'm looking for.
Before I pull the trigger, I just wanted to see if anyone on S2Ki had any other suggestions?

I would only buy a Samsung or Sony, just personal preference.
The only thing I would consider if I were you is: Do you really need 1080p?
I only say that because there are really good deals on 720p Tv's right now because everyone has gone 1080p crazy...the only thing is, bluray/hd dvd is really the only thing that will put out 1080p.
Somthing to consider anyway.
If you are going to keep the TV for a long time and can wait until 1080p is the de facto standard, then I would go ahead and shoot for a 1080p.

The XBOX 360 can use 1080p and that is how I watch movies, and play games. There doesn't seem to be enough of a price difference, in my opinion, between 1080p sets and 720p sets to warrant buying the lesser version in current LCD models. Plasma could be a different story in that area.
Most games though, don't come in 1080p. The ones that do are 480p/720p/1080i.
I'll double check.

For plasma, go Panasonic.
