Default 42" Gateway Plasma ?

So
I have been to all the sites. Read all the reviews, the Gateway isnt the greatest but I got an unopened returned unit for $2099.....
Should I complain?
I watch a lot of baseball and movies but Im far from a total AV nut.

What do you guys think?

Thats an EDtv right?
2-large is alot to spend on a TV, any TV, and buying one remanufactured you may want to get the 3 year warranty (I figure after 4 years you cant really complain about it breaking)...

I think its better to get a HDtv over an EDtv but thats jsut my opinion.

Overall though, that seem's like a great tv at a great price.

Ive heard from "plasma experts" that all those cheap korean plasmas (ie Sampo) arent that good....gateway is one of them.

Sounds like you saved a solid 3-400$ on the TV and even more if it came with mounting brackets. Not a bad price for what is the better of the entry level plasmas. Although many of these use the same display and are packaged in a different housing.

End game is that right now you really cant get a video-phile image quality plasma for below 8k. Saving a huge amount of money and getting one of those is a smart way to go for those wanting the neatness of a plasma.

thought about getting one. actually was ready to buy one but it wouldn't fit in my car. it's not the best, but hard to beat the price. if you buy it, i'd get the extended warranty. never a big fan of warranties, but for plasmas i would probably get one.

I probably wouldn't have jumped on that. As I've stated in previous threads, I sell higher-end consumer electronics for a living. I've had many experiences with the cheap-o plasmas, some fine, some not. I can honestly say a good price on a bad plasma wouldn't be the best deal. I sincerely hope you have no issues with your TV. There's a reason some plasmas cost $9k, and some cost $2.5k. This is definetly the type of thing where you get what you pay for - and you gotta pay for what you get!

Is there such a thing as an "unopened" return? Most likely, it was an "opened and resealed" return. If you enjoy it, keep it. But Gateway plasma tv's are the best selling in America because they're so much cheaper.

there's also a difference between a 100k car and a 30k car..but we still enjoy our s2000

as long as you don't expect a 9k tv, a 2k plasma is awesome.
