Here's a thought, given that the kids are so young: they may not have had any idea about the societal merits of "giving head." They may not know anything about sex other than the body parts. They hear about this weird activity, have no idea that it's "bad" or what "homosexual" means, so being curious kids they see what all the fuss is about.
I dunno, just a thought...
