Default 60 Minutes II: Shumacher Interview. . .

I just happened to be flipping channels and caught most of his interview last night.

One word: Impressive.

If 60 Minutes II reruns this episode during the summer, I recommend watching it. . . Below is the link to the summary article.

Have fun!

This shows you how big F1 is in America

The car maker employs more than 550 people to work exclusively on the two cars that Schumacher and his team mate, Rubins Varrichello, drive each season.

60 Minutes actually pronounced it correctly last night with "B" not the "V" which is an obviously typo. . .

The interview and story were excellent. Specifically, Shumacher seemed extremely normal, which for a race car driver with his amount of fame & fortune. . .

I was also impressed by his honest answer about being afraid to return to racing after he broke his leg and his concerns about the speed at Indy. . .

I, too, really enjoyed that interview! I'm sure that won't do anything to change the opinion of F1 with anyone who is diehard Nascar (check out the hate mail section at www.noright.com for some real gems), but I hope that some others will see the light about exactly how big F1 is.

It was especially nice to see the "I don't think there is any more room for improvement" attitude gone...

I've only started watching F1 racing this season, and while it is fun to watch, the main beef I have with it is that there isn't ever any passing going on at the front. It seems like whoever can get the hole-shot just runs away with it. Or, at best, it also depends on pit strategy, pit crew speed, and reliability.

After I wrote that I realized that the B and V are right next to each other and it was a typo and poor editing.

After watching the USGP and listening to the announcer refer to one of the drivers as "that guy" as in "Oh, and now Shumacher is passing 'that guy'", It wouldn't have suprised me if they had pronounced Barrichello as Varrichello.
