every couple weeks or so i have to be on the phone all day anyway with a bunch of idiots so i don't really mind being on the phone soo much, just the people i have to speak with.
I was offered a police dispatcher job before I went to the Police Academy several years ago. It is a very stressful job and you have peoples' lives in your hands (both the public and the police). If you think old people are extremely difficult when you're trying to explain craigslist, try dealing with someone on the line who's just been shot or their spouse is having a heart attack or something. At least you won't have to rip your hair out, it'll fall out naturally from the stress.

I'm just sharing my experiences (and Eugene, Oregon is no Philly I'm sure as far as crime is concerned). Give it a shot though if you think you can handle it. As stressful as it is, it can be an exciting and very rewarding job.
