Default AFLAC!? WTF

We had an AFLAC guy in today...... you can get insurance that will pay you "Cash Money" if you get cancer!!!! YA BABY! Smoke up!!!!!!

They also had some bullshit about if your kid gets hurt you get $50 per occurance or something like that.

All this shit quickly adds up to $6.00-$15.00 per week.... that is $300-$800 a year........ people are stupid..... all these retards at my work are signing up for this stuff.

When someone says "it is only $6.00 per week" it seems like people are too dumb to realize that it equals $312-$780. per year.....

When i tried to explain it to some of them, they all seemed to have friends who supposedly made $ from AFLAC....those people that supposedly made $ were probably also too dumb to do the math.

I would imagine a good AFLAC sales person could do pretty well with all the dumb asses in the world.

well, it's basically insurance. just like car insurance, you pay money, but hope that nothing unfortunate ever happens where you have to make a claim, but when you DO have to make a claim, you do get compensated.

My wife pays $67/month (the employer pays about 4 times that as a benefit) for our health insurance...The cost of my liver transplant came to ~$120,000. A couple of my prescriptions right after leaving the hospital were $1500 a month. I haven't worked since January of this year. I wish I could have a plan like that, but as a sole proprietor the costs are usually prohibitive for any kind of disability insurance. Look into it and see how much of the cost per month per employee your employer will be picking up.

Old Man -

AFLAC is 100% paid by the employee.... this is not a Health Insurance plan, but more like a goofy suplemental insurance.....

Kind of like having insurance that you won't get a paper cut.... if you do get a paper cut you get a few $..... the stuff they insure seems dumb to me..... but people love it.... i would not pay $500 per year to pay me $ if I get cancer!

Health insurance covers you for medical problems which is legit... i pay $40 per week towards my family plan for health insurance.... my employer covers the other $110.00 or so ($650 / month for a family for my plan)..... it covers most medical problems..... AFLAC is just stupid as far as I can see..

When we were in Hawaii a couple of years ago there was this huge party that the Aflac people were having done to the 9's to celebrate all the big money they made.

well, it does have some benefit.

many working class people live paycheck to paycheck and can't afford to be out of work OR meet the yearly deductible for their insurance.

I, however, have disability and am double insured so it's worthless to me.

the pay check to pay check people are caught in a catch 22..... do they gamble on spending $500 a year for the possibility of getting some $ back from AFLAC? Then they are $500 poorer than they would have been if nothing bad happens...... but more than likely they smoke cigarettes anyway so they waste way more $ on $4.00 (here in PA)packs of cigs, so who really cares..... as long as the AFLAC folks are making huge $ all is good.

I would feel like a dick selling that shit....i know the idea is to make $ in business, but that stuff is just aimed at taking advantage of the poor/uninformed.

You'd be surprised how many people purchase the wrong types of life insurance as well according to their needs.

AFLAC has been making tons of money because they are the leader in this type of insurance. It is peace of mind for some people, especially those who are self employed or the sole bread winner for a family. I know several self employed folks that carry some kind of disability insurance. I don't buy any because my employer covers me as a beni.

Most of these people who carry it are younger, when your retirement savings get up there, you really don't need to carry the disability because if you were hit by a bus, you could make a go of it on your nest egg.

I know a construction worker who was literally crushed but not fatally by something dropped by a crane, don't know if he had insurance, but he was only 28. If he had the insurance he would get payments the rest of his life. Social Security disability payments don't go very far, AFLAC provides an option for more protection. Makes a lot of sense for someone who might be a young carpenter or something, could hurt his back on the job one day and not be able to feed his family.

Its a gamble, most people who buy it never need to use it, those who buy it and need to use it thank god they did. And those that need to use it but did not buy it are SCREWED.
