air fare and hotel
I wanted to go to vegas for the memorial weekend from northern cali to vegas for the memorial weekend. I looked up some sites and it is about $650 per person for air fare both ways and 2 nights and three days for hotel at belagio for 5/28-5/30. Is this a good price or can someone eles find something better? I have never booked online with travel and don't know what to look for. Actually the last time i went on a vacation that lasted more than 2 days was about 5 years ago. And it never included air fare, always drove to the location.
Thanks for any help that is provided.

I like travelocity. That is pretty high for airfare. The best way to look for a two day package is be flexible on the dates. Try looking up a day before, or a day later and you can find some major price differences.
Also, the Vdara is brand new and connected to the Bellagio. Since it is trying to build a following, it has been priced cheaper then Bellagio but it is still a five star and located next door. The wife and I are headed there in a couple weeks to relax for a few days. They are advertising a pair of free tickets (probably lousy seats) to either the Elvis Cirque show or Lion King with a stay.
We are finding less than $400 for air, hotel and car from Minnesota, but we have the flexibility to go midweek. Weekend flights and hotel rates are almost always nearly double. But we are too old to party it up with the hip crowd at the posh clubs so what does it matter?
I have also been to Vegas on holiday weekends and thought that it sucked because it is packed with morons taking family vacations with children. Picture the stirp littered with parents and stollers, and 8-14 year olds running around the casinos chased by security. Bleh. If you want the weekend party atmoshpere I say try a diiferent weekend if you can. And if you don't mind a little less bustle but want low rates try the middle of the week if you are able. I prefer having access to all the stuff with medium crowd size, but again, geezer.

When people talk about how mature Vegas has become, the Bellagio is often used as an example. Well, they're right. This joint is nothing if not mature. But so are a lot of people who have to use adult diapers. And apparently maturity comes with two things with we're not particularly fond of: high prices and pretention. . . If your idea of the perfect hotel includes a bathroom you can tell your neighbors about, then this place is for you.
