I'm going to Florida in 2 weeks, I was planning on being there 2 hours early before my flight. Should I be safe and go 3 hours early? I guess I should be wearing shoes that are easy to take off also Any tips for my travel?

I fly a lot for work. The security is excessive but really a joke. The protcols are different at every airport I have been to (San Jose, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Pheonix, Chicago, Baltimore, Houston, St. Louis). For the most part they just go through the motions, not thinking about what they are doing. The last flight I was on, a teenager infront of me pulled down his carry-on from the overhead compartment, and out dropped his swiss army knife. "Hey, that's not supposed to be on here!". Another time I was flying and I had some chemicals with me in my carry-on (for work, I'm in biotech, it was for a customer), I was picked out to be fully searched that day. The went through my bag, found the chemicals, looked at them, didn't bother to ask me any questions, closed them back up and sent me on my way. I almost stopped them to say, "Hey, aren't you gonna ask me about that stuff?" But then I thought I would probably be kept their all day. The security is still not effective. The rules are different at every airport, the people the check you don't speak english or even care to understand what they are looking for. It's really a joke. All that aside, I still feel that flying is a lot safer than getting into a car. Good thing, since my job depends on it.
