Default Alaskan Fishing is excellent this year!

OK, I didn't plan post to be a shameless plug for a friend's fishing lodge, although it probably is

I've visited this lodge twice in the last 3 years and always leave with memories that will last a lifetime.

I really just wanted to share some "fish stories" or better yet, pictures. Those of you who enjoy fishing will enjoy the "Fish Caught Recently" link on this site:

(Pictures of King Salmon, Dog Salmon, Halibut, etc.)

Yeah, that catch lasted most of the winter. About half of that was smoked and the other half frozen. The fish in the picture are Silver (Coho) Salmon, the biggest one in the photo was around 16 pounds which is not bad for late July. By the end of August they reach about 20-25 pounds just before they go upstream to spawn. I'll post more pics next month as I'm going again Aug. 30th.

Checkout the website link to some huge Kings (in the 40 - 60 pound range).

Yes, the fishes lives are at risk every time the boats leave port.

You may be thinking of Crabbing in Bristol Bay which ranks right up there with working on the deck of an aircraft carrier in terms of on the job hazards.

fishing in new jersey has been great this summer. This is a 8 pound fluke (summer flounder) I caught about a month ago.

Anyone else have any good fishing pictures to post ?

Question, when you catch all that fish on vacation, how do you get it home?

This lodge will clean your fish as a start, then smoke it if you wish. They vacuum pack it and freeze it, then they box it in airline approved boxes with frozen gel packs. As long as you can get the fish into a freezer within 24 hours after leaving the lodge, you should be OK
