All you student S2k owners...
There was a recent post asking s2k owners their age and occupation. To my suprise, many of you are full-time students. Someone asked this question in that thread, but only a few of you answered. Hopefuly this will get a better response.
How can all of you afford this car? I'm just a little curious. I'm a full-time college student and don't believe there is any way I could afford this car during school. If you don't mind sharing your secrets, I'm all ears.

I think we've discussed this before awhile ago ... might want to do a search on it for a bunch of answers.
For me personally, I work my a$$ off and my education costs are reduced to book costs thanks to scholarships. If I had to pay fully for my college education, I would be really pushing my financial limits, but for my current situation, I'm doing well. There probably are many different answers you will get.

I've heard a lot about students buying their own car and going to school/work at the same time. And they say they pay it all off insurance and all, etc. But I think a majority of them are speaking out of their a**. And also because I am in that situation. What's reality for most of us students??? No! You cannot pay off ins. and the car. When you are trying to earn good grades/income. You could get bad grades and earn good income. Or you could get good grades at a crappy community college and earn good income. I'm sure there are a couple of people out there that can study/work/dream about the car at the same time with no distraction in achieving their goals, but they are rare...
Anyways, my answer to the question. I knew I wanted my own car back in junior year of hs already. It took me 4 years to save up $12K, my parents pay off the ins. and part of my monthly payments. BUT, I am contributing $200/month in paying the car off. Why did it take 4 years to save up $12K, when you get to the point of saving up for a car you always run into times when you go on shopping sprees, especially when you're young.
So I made up for that through ebay... But of course my spending was greater than my income through ebay.
P.S. It can never be all good. Because of this car I did poorly my 1st semester in college, but I learned from my mistake. How? By having to repeat a course that I didn't pass...

Hey All,
I'm a full time student at the school of the art institute of Chicago. I'm not trying to sound spoiled or anything, but my parents pay for everything. They pay for school, my apartment downtown in chicago, insurance, clothes, and whatever else I need. I want to get a job so that i can stop using their money, but they don't want me to work. They said to concentrate on school. Some people say that i'm stuck up my A** and that i'm really spoiled. I think that some people are just in better situations than others. I can't wait till i get out of school so that I can make my own money so that I don't have to ask my parents for it.
