American Idol...
As a Johnny Cash fan, I did not like his version.
As a music fan, I thought the arrangement was very creative. I've seen far worse 'cover' songs where people make it their own. I do appreciate when people are able to take a classic song and make it their own.
I'm not a big fan of Adam. He thinks he is way better than he is. He's not horrible, but he's not that good...yet. I do think that he can succeed, but he'll definitely have a specific genre. I think the problem that I have with him is that he is very reluctant to branch out and try a different genre. I had the same problem with Carrie Underwood. That is until she sang Alone, by Heart.
I'm making a prediction for him for 80's week. Either
Depeche Mode, Enjoy the Silence
or
The Cure, Lovesong

I just saw Adam on Youtube sing Ring of Fire, I thought it was pretty damn good. Although I'm not an EMO fan, I have to give credit to his arrangement of the song and vocals. This guy blows away the rest of the group.
If he was inexplicably dropped like Daughtry, I think he'd move on immediately to bigger and better things just like Daughtry. He'd be better off not winning Idol so he's not attached contractually.

Actually, he "borrowed" the arrangement and vocals from a performer from the show Rock Star Supernova (rock version of American Idol) a couple years back. I thought Dilana pulled it off MUCH better than he did: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whtQZJ7R3EU
Similar, but Adam's is better, IMHO. More original, more dynamic, more range...more interesting.
I don't think he'll win just b/c he's too "alternative" for AI. So far he's in a completely different league from everyone else though.

I gotta say, I really liked Adam this week.
My biggest complaint about him was that he was too stuck in one area. Tonight he really broke out of that and showed that he's not all about a certain type of music. Good stuff.

Dead wife wins it all even though i'm pulling for Anoop.
Dead Wife is way too gospel-y and almost condescending alot of the time... and sorry, but Anoop doesn't stand a chance. Dude needs a stylist STAT. He and Farber don't have the pipes to even compete; like Simon said they're just "taking part in" the competition; they don't stand a chance to win.
