Andrea Yates = Not Guilty
IMO the murder of your children is unforgiveable. Depression should not be a valid excuse for ending their lives by drowning them with your bare hands. What kind of a productive life will she lead, even with treatment, only to be haunted by the fact that SHE KILLED HER KIDS? Throw away the key. Boo, jury.
Both sides agreed that she was mentall ill. Once the prosecution agrees to that, it begins chipping away pretty steadily at the two requirements to fulfill (the State of Texas') requirements for a not-guilty-by-reason-of-insanity plea.
What more need be discussed? The blame is on the prosecutors for setting up a bad case, and to The State for assuming the arguments for the first case were airtight (when it clearly shows they weren't).

If Yates is found innocent by reason of insanity, she will be committed to a state mental hospital, with periodic hearings before a judge to determine whether she should be released

. . . to a point. . . she won't get a hystererctomy (unless she volunteers). She'll be in a position to have more kids, and no legal way to stop her from having more kids if she is released.

Isn't drowning kids by hand in a bathtub the very definition of insanity.
