Another digital camera dilema
Hi I am looking to buy a digital camera that is compact and offers good resolution.
The models I am eyeing now is
1)Ricoh rdc-7(I think Funcar has this from what I read in another thread)
2)Kyocera Finecam S3(won't be out for months)
3)Nikon 995
All 3 offers 3 megapixel capabilities, though I most likely won't use them, it is a feature I would like to have in the event that I do find the need for it.
The Ricoh is the top of the list now because of its design. However, I read reviews that it has very slow shutter speed and is really bad in low light conditions. Supposedly very "noisy". I am not really interested in the Ricoh i500 and i700 because they are bigger and offers internet capabilities that I would not ever use. I would appreciate opinions on this from owners.
The Kyocera won't be out for a while. It is going to be the smallest 3 megapixel digital camera(credit card size but thicker). Unfortunately it won't be due out in JAPAN till September, who knows when it will get here.
The Nikon 995 is the best there is now for prosumer cameras. However the size is holding me back. Unless other alternatives for compact size cameras fall through, I most likely won't resort to this choice.
Tell me your opinion guys. Thanks!

Go to this site and read, read, read. There are sample pics with every review and forums to ask questions. It's almost as good a site for digital photo as this one is for the S2K.

Remember, # of pixels isn't everything. If the glass in front of the ccd is no good. No number of pixels is going to produce a sharp picture.
The Nikon 995 would be my choice.
I recently sold all my medium format film and darkroom equipment after 20 years of photo work and committed to digital. Sure hope I made the right choice. I figured I needed to unload while there was still a market.

Ya the Nikons are HUGE in my books. I was referring to the fact that if compact cameras really can't provide the juice and I have to get a bigger one, the 995 is going to be the one.
Wirejock, how do you tell whether a lens for a camera is good?
