Default Any cellphone (nokia) experts?

Hi, my aunt just came from the Philippines for vacation and she bought a new tri-band cellphone just so that she can keep in contact with her employees back in the Philippines but she can't send or recieve text messages. This is a Nokia 7610 btw. I know she can get a new prepaid sim card over here but she wants to keep her original number. Is there anything she can do so that she can send and recieve text messages while keeping her original phone number (like add access points or something)? I tried calling my phone with her phone and it works, but I couldn't send a text message to my phone using her phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

she probably should have talked to her provider to setup an international plan. i know if you use a US based phone, you can add it to your package and it will work, text and all, but it wont if you dont have it, not even for expensive per minute charges. she can probably use your phone to call int'l and get this changed. but maybe her phone doesnt use the same GSM frequencies and she may be out of luck.
