Default Any close calls with the rain?

Today was my second. I just got done with some researching at the library, looked allright (hafl sunny half cloudy) so I put the tops down. Went to the airforce base gas station to fill air in my tires since air is free there and my tires were probably a lil low. Next thing I know this ominus looking cloud comes in and all hell breaks loose with rain. Right before it started I was lucky enough to put the top up, just had a feeling.
This other time, I had just spent 8 hours in the basement for training at my job. I come out and its all sunny downtown. Put the top down and make my way to I-5 freeway. Traffic as usually is ed up and it keeps getting darker and darker....I'm panicking cause I can't get out and then it starts pouring little drops and I'm like oh shit....Luckily thats all it did and Ipulled over to the next exit when I could and put her up. I almost was tempted to just go to the side of the road on the freeway.
A month ago I saw this lady in an old cavalier I think, convertible. It was raining cats and dogs suddenly. Then I realized her top was up. She kept driving for another 5minutes in this pouring rain until she finally pulled over. Her poor car. Anyone else have close calls

I was driving one time from Mountauk (all the way on the tip of long island) back to NYC at about 3:30AM. Not one car on the road, so I was going 75mph the whole way (about 2 hours)....About a 1/4 of the way it started to rain, and my top was down. I just left it down. Not one drop made it into the car, and a few drops hit the rollhoops...thats about it. You gotta see the faces of people who see you with your top down in the rain....priceless.

I was coming back from LA last September, and I was coming up I5 at like 4 O'Clock AM, and I'm somewhere near Kettleman City, I think; all of a sudden, I start seeing some freaky lights -- and keep in mind its hella early in the morning, and I've gotten like 12 hours of sleep in 4 days...... and I've had about 4 redbulls since starting my drive.

So anyway, after driving for like 15 minutes, I suddenly realize that its some freak lightning storm, and that I'm not going crazy. So, I think nothing more, not realizing that thunder showers usally have heavy rain, so I keep going for like 10 more minutes, and then I drive into a crazy rain-storm, and its like seriously raining cats and dogs!!!

So I pull over as fast as I can, and put the top up in the crazy rain, so that was scary. But then I pulled over at the next exit and dry interior off, so it was okay....

Edit: And it was literally perfect weather before and after that experiance, so that added to the craziness.

I've been driving ragtops top down in the rain for over 30 years. If the rain is heavy or blowing hard from the side the top goes up, otherwise as long as the car's moving you'll generally stay dry.
