Default any credit card recommendation?

I'm sick and tired of my Capital One Platinum Visa card that gives no bonus or reward.

I'm interested in the Discover card that gives 5% return on gas and 2% cash back.
https://discovercardapplication.com/default...286&affid=10692

or An Amex Blue Cash card which offers up to 5% cash back and other good protection.

any of these good at all?

if you like to have cash back rewards, then those cards are nice. also look into citibank's cash rebate card. i've been a discover card holder since i was in my early 20s and have been very satisfied with them.

i fly a lot so i use airline points CCs.

USAA

no rewards, but low rates with no marketing. since USAA is not-for-profit, they have a completely different way in which they do business.

CapitalOne is horrible. I'll never use another one of their cards again.

I've been flying often lately so I just signed up for the American Express Delta Skymiles card. They're running a promotion where your first year is free and you get 10,000 bonus miles on your first purchase. You also get double miles when you spend for gas, groceries, and electronics. The annual fee is also waived/discounted if you have a personal American Express charge card.

Just remember to look at the fine print. Those cashback things claim UP TO 5% when they're really around 0.5-2%.

You'll get a lot less cash back if you dont carry a balance.

How does that work? Can you please explain it to me? I'm doing a lot of traveling, and would be very interested in that.

Well, each mile you fly on your frequent flyer club nets you 1 mile. They run promotions where you'll get 1000 bonus miles for booking on their website. At 25,000, you get a free economy class ticket to somewhere in the U.S. The award chart is here: http://www.delta.com/skymiles/use/sk...t_us/index.jsp . You also get miles for every dollar you spend. At some places, you get 2 miles for every dollar you spend.

The 10,000 bonus miles means you get 10,000 miles for signing up. That's about halfway to your free ticket. My typical roundtrip from W.S., NC to L.A., CA gets me around 5000 miles. It'll end up giving 6000 miles if I book it with Delta.com. Here are other ways to get miles: https://www.delta.com/skymiles/getmiles/index.jsp
