Any Headhunters or from a Recruiting Agency from CA here?
Sam,
you're moving from the most urbanized, most cultural-ized, most vibrant city in the world to LA-LA land???
Man talk about your cultural shock. At least you should make the transition easier on yourself by coming out to Chicago first for at least 6 months and then if you wish to leache Chi-town, then maybe go down to TX. Then after that, AZ, then which followed by L.A.
Makes for less stress. . .more fun of seeing the good ol' U.S. of A.

Luder94- you are a funny guy!
I grew up in CA and moved to NY when I was 15. Trust me, I had my fair share of cultural shock a few years back when I had to stock up on winter boots? gloves? shovels, driveway salt?, snow blower?electric blankets?lol!!
Just cant picture myself and my wife starting up a family here in NYC. And besides, the stook would be happier in warmer climates!!!!!!!!!:<)

You're right, the majority of NY is not bad at all, but NYC does leave something little to be desired...compasionate, genuinely nice people. <--You have to remember where I come from, the Midwest. . .states like TX, WI, MN, and parts of IL where everyone says hi and offers a helping hand, regardless if you know the person or not.
I spent the majority the last six months of 1999 and the first half of 2000 in NY. I only got to see all of Queens, Islip, SUNY-Stoney Brook, NYC (mainly Manhattan), and got to spend a few chance weekends up in White Plaines.
My take on each place:
Queens has alot of life. . .especially if you like the rugged, thugged mentality.
Islip, many sub-urban neighborhoods that parallel other American suburbs.
SUNY-SB, loved it for the fact that the girlfriend (the Salma Hayek look alike (although I thought she looked more like an Indian Gwen Stefanie) at the time went to school there for her Masters...that's it.
NYC---night life, culture, places to eat, clubs, shows, etc. Especially loved SoHo shopping style. . .every price is barter-able
White Plaines, I got to stay with an uncle of mine who owns a VERY successful pharmeceutical manufacturing company. Got to meet many of his neighbors when they came over for a movie night in his in home theater style second lower floor basement of a three floor basement!!!) His neighbors consisted of Knicks players, Yankees players, and some actor, actresses. I'd never thought I'd be the one that got star struck, but damn I will never forget that movie night.
