Hmmm... I see your point, but I'm thinking numbers. The 172 is ubiquitous, over 37,000 produced....I mean what pilot do you know that HASN'T flown a 172? And as far as the flat four goes....I drive one everyday... (it's no Beetle either)

Well I don't have 1700+ hours in a Sea Knight, but I can hover, and did, in a Bell 47D

No I haven't, thats why I want to check it out first before I go ahead and sign up for lessons. I am a little worried about how many things you have to be thinking of at the same time while flying. I imagine it's a million times harder than driving a car.

Not as impressive, but here some of mine....

My old noble steed, may she rest in peace....
Beechcraft Skipper, BE77, N3865D....circa 1999. I landed her on El Mirage dry lake bed in Southern Cali. Alas she was destroyed in a non-fatal crash two years ago involving a n00b student pilot.
I'm trying to upload some more, buy photochannel is being an asshat....
