Go to a dedicated running store. Most of them will do a gait analysis for free in order to determine what type of shoe you'll need.

The most expensive shoe isn't necessarily the right one for you. I was running with Nike Shox before but found that since I have flat feet and tend to overpronate, these were not the right shoe for me. I bought new balances that were at better fit for me and it's been great.

No discomfort and no pain.

i have the same story. i was buying wrong shoes forever until they recommended NB 991s. haven't bought another running shoe since (well, now they're the 992s) and on my third pair now. definitely get your step anaylzed!

i don't think nike does anywhere near as much research on their running shoes as companies like asics, brooks, and new balance do.

that said, i run in asics gel-nimbus or gt2130. if you're serious about it though you should def get an expert's opinion on what would suit you best.

Another vote for New Balance. If you can find a dedicated New Balance store, go there and have them check out your step, etc. They should be able to make a good recommendation.

thats the only answer you need.

I went to a running store after my Nike Shox beat the crap out of my feet (got tendonitis because of how poorly they matched my running style), they fit me in some Asics Air-Nimbus as it provides enough toe support and cushion for the way I run. So far I have about 100 miles or so on them and zero pain or discomfort.

i have the asics GT2130 as well, very comfortable. (my pair of insert is a bit messed up though, i may need a new pair of insert)

i also have a Adidas response cusion, which has less support for stability, so its lighter, and mroe flexible, which results in a pair of quicker (transition) shoe

i have a pair of nike shox with front air sole as well. for my weight (< 170 lb), i think its a bit harsh. but it translate into a more responsive ride (cusion sucks up energy too on push off)

i haven't tried the nike 360, but i heard its harsh for "normal" weight people.

and on the down side, nike with visible air pocket ALWAYS blows out on me, so i have pretty much given up on them completely as serious running shoe

i ditto my2ks2k's suggestion and look into asics, brooks, and NB. i also have great luck with adidas too

just study your foot type and your pronation rate before you go pick a pair of running shoe

Just confirming what others have said, go to a dedicated running store (do they have Run On! or Luke's Locker in NV?), have your step/gait analyzed, & let them "prescribe" the best shoe for you & for what you want to do.

Or go to the New Balance store & let them advise you. I currently am in NB1062s & they're fantastic.

Good luck!

i have a new balance store near by but are they actually "trained" on this or would it be better to go to a podiatrist and have custom made insoles made??? ????
i was actually gonna get the new balance 992's for my next pair as i have tried them on and felt they were the most comfortable.
i might add that i probably do have somewhat "flat" feet as i have been in old skool vans forever and i find anything with a visable arch support uncomfortable.

992's are great for flat feet. i have flatt feet, too and that's what was recommended. also, if you need wide sizes, the 992's come in wides. i wear a 9 2E!
