Default any S2k and/or 3rd gen rx-7 owners?!?!

I am looking at buying a 3rd gen to go with the S2k. The S2k will be my daily and the Rx-7 my project/race car. It has 30k on rebuilt rotary, all boost hoses replaced with silicon hoses, new R1 transmission, full 3 inch exhaust with pre-cat gone, but cat still in place..makes about 12 psi instead of stock 10. It has a boost guage and does 12-9-12 about....it was hard to tell..as I was watching the road!!

Anyone else on here own both cars? What has been your experience? What would recommend next for mods. Oh, he is selling the car for $14.5k...how is that for price? it is a 1993.

In my opinion this is one of the best combination of cars for an car finatic to have. Both are so much fun to drive but the RX-7 can go much faster much cheaper but is very very very unreliable...while the s2k is jus the opposite. I got rid of my RX-7 right before I got my s2k becuase of it's reliability problems but I would have kept it as my "race" car had I had the cash for it. Just remember that you will now own two cars that are two seaters. This wouldn't be a problem for me but is for many. Just wanted to point that out...most s2k owners go with more of a family car for there other car but there purpose is for a daily driver or to hall the family in and your need is a "race" car so yes this is an excellent choice...just be preparred to spend some big time cash to get that thing running right...especially if you plan on running higher boost than stock without an aftermarket computer.

I also formerly owned a 3rd gen rx7. Great car, but can be twitchy. Price sounds about right. I don't think there is any differrence between an r1 and a regular tranny (as a former r1 owner). I would get it checked out by a good mazda mechanic check the rx7 page for a reputable one. A good engine rebuild should definitely last more than 40k. Have fun and watch out for the throttle lift oversteer.
