Anybody dig The Darkness? Over the top rockers on Leno tonight.
...probably the hottest new band in rock.
They'll be on Jay Leno tonight and Jimmie Kimmel Wed. night. They have a very unusual sound that's a cross between Queen, AC/DC, and Sweet. Some of their look and sound are tongue in cheek, but they do rock. Justin Hawkins is the lead singer AND lead guitarist (pretty unusual). Besides some crazy falsetto vocals he is a helluva good guitar player!
Given the boy band crap, rap stuff and American Idol-esque offerings out now it's cool to see a real rockin band take off.

Here's an article on their last show in LA:

Holy '70s arena rock. I just D/L'd a copy of their album to give it a listen. They are pretty good. And people say rock is dead. Whatever. With bands like this, Turbo Negro, The Hellacopters, Supersuckers, and Nashville Pussy, it looks like it's alive and well to me!
Chris.

Return of the pre-80's glam rock. Their first release (or what I know to be their first release), is quite interesting, catchy, and somewhat of a flashback for me.
The video just sent it over the top for me. I will trust you and pick up their album to give the rest of it a listen on the way home tonight

Luder, you won't be disappointed. It's one of the few CDs I've got in a long time that's great from start to finish, little or no filler. It's one of those CDs that'll be a fixture in peoples' stereos ala Appitite for Destruction or Back in Black was back in the day. Black Shuck, Growin on Me, Giving Up (about heroin addiction, but one of the catchiest songs I've heard in years), Love on the Rocks, are all great songs!
Apparently Brian May of Queen is a fan and Bon Jovi dissed them. Hey those are ringing endorsements in my book
One thing that made me laugh, when they anounced their US tour on the web site the message was:
Lock up your daughters! Lock up your sons! Lock up your pets!!! The Darkness are coming to a town near you!

They are shite IMHO.
Better than boy bands ........ but not much.
They are now even trying to take themselves seriously
