I am a licensed Pilot, got my glider license when I was 15, and my private pilot license when I was 16. Currently in the Canadian Forces training as a pilot, just finished my phase on the Grob 120a and moving onto the Harvard II next.

I for one really like this VIDEO

One has to look outside of the cockpit to fully appreciate what he is doing.

Sweet dude, the T-6 (or Harvard II as you guys call it) is a badass airplane. I flew T-34s in primary and could barely keep up with that POS, I can't imagine flying an 1100shp "trainer" after only 70ish hours in a small civil.

We have a CF-18 exchange pilot in our squadron now, and he's a blast to fly with. What are you hoping to fly? Do you select your pipeline after the Harvard II?

Before I die one of the things I have on my list is to fly/be in the passenger seat in a fighter jet or something of the sort. I don't see myself getting a license, I just wanna fly in the damn thing and do barrel rolls and shit

You absolutely can, it will just cost you the same as a decent AP1

For significantly less (4-500ish) you can get a back seat ride in a small aerobatic plane which I think would be just as awesome, plus they speak english

Id recommend looking into getting a sport pilot license, lot cheaper and faster. I had a good friend and pilot tell me, "the reason you get a private pilot's license is to go eat $200 hamburgers." meaning, a 'fun trip' to go have fun and get food at a overnight destination turns into a major financial cost. It aint cheap. Personally, I really enjoyed the first 10-15 flights I flew then it got a little old. Lots of rules and a Cessna 172 doesnt handle like a P-51 no matter how hard you may try.

I guess i'll chime in now. I have my private pilots single engine land license and received it when I was 18. Fortunately I went to a high school that had a "vocational" program for flight operation and just needed to pay 150 bucks for books. so needless to say I took them up on that deal.

Now I come from an aviation family with my dad being a captain for UPS (10 year veteran of the Air Force) and my dad's dad who flew for Eastern and also did a bit of time with the Air Force.

After 6 years my dad just finished building his Vans RV-8. It was fun and interesting because he built almost everything on the airplane (minus a quick-build for the fuselage) from plans and sheets of metal (>90%). Fortunately he was able to go to Oshkosh this year and bring home the gold Lindy and the innovator award (cant remember name).

now if you get your private pilots license it will be one of the best feelings you will ever get. You, in a sense, join a fraternity of men and women who get to enjoy an indescribable experience.

Most other autocrossers describe autocrossing as "It's the most fun you can have with your pants on." After they say that I always like to ask them, in private of course, if they have ever flown an airplane by them selves

im not licensed but have started on PPL - just put it off when schedule (lots of biz travel) got in the way

it was about 150$/hr

its fun. but not "incredible" though - its only so exciting going 120 knots in a C172.... what i really want to do is get in a jet
