Anybody remember this concept?
I have just moved closer, a lot closer to work. About 4 miles away and was looking at smaller modes of transport for better fuel economy.
So I've been looking at scooters or a bicycles and thought of an old concept made by Segway. Does anyone remember this? Why didn't anything come of it?

I'd love to have one of those.
I'd still get a bicycle, but I'd like something I can ride to work and not be sweaty and smelly.

what about a Honda Scooter?
But I'd prefer to have something that wasn't fuel dependent. Just something different. A neighbor of mine has a Segway i2 and he says they're pretty rugged.
I don't know what Segways are now but when released they were $5k, this would be what, $8-10K?
Its neat but looks like a Lark scooter from hell.
I live 11 miles from work, which is maybe close enough to bike once in a while, but it is uphill the entire way home. Not what I want at the end of the day. I thought about one of these

A beginner Ninja 250. They are only $3500 new, and you can get used ones for $2k easy. Yes, the bike heads will tell you its for girls, but its fun, as fast as a stock S2000, and can get 60+ mpg.

my wife would kill me.
I thought about biking to work too. It's downhill to work, but uphill back. Plus I'm an elemental wuss. If it were too hot or cold I'd whine.

Interesting side note - the factory break-in instructions say the engine isn't broken in for roughly 5000kms, or some ridiculous number. Also, it tells you not to take it above a ridiculously low RPM until it is completely broken in. The result is that you are not able to take it on the highway during break-in at all because you will exceed the recommended RPMs to cruise at minimum highway speeds. (Get all that?) Also, compared to my friend's SVX1000, she is in 6th gear before he is forced to shift out of 1st.
It's just a weak excuse for a bike. Oh, not to mention Kawasaki forgot to put a vent line on the gas tank so when the bike sits in the sun (while riding or parked) it makes this alarm sound (it's actually the air escaping or being sucked in through the seal on the gas cap. It's retardedly loud and can be heard at 50+mph when you are next to the bike. EEEEYAHHHHHH! 3-5 second bursts of sound, every 30-60 seconds. Dealer replaced the seal and it's been minimized, but their initial response from Kawy was "that's just the way it is."
Yuck
I want a Segway Centaur

just get one of these
