I won't even pay over $1,500 for any laptop lol.

Every OS sucks. Every chipset sucks. Every CPU sucks.
Go eff all y'all into a ditch with your little sister.
1. Figure out what you need the system to do.
2. Spec out the system for the top 3 jobs at hand.
3. Ignore the gaming douches, unless gaming is on that list.
Over everything else. I would HIGHLY recommend an SSD. (Solid State HD), it will make your system a beast. They are slightly expensive but I really can't overhype them enough. If anyone here has one, trust me they'll vouch for them.
I have a Sager NP8690 and it boots up/ready to go in about 10 seconds (literally). It sounds unreal but coming from my last PC, this thing saves me hours if not days in the long run. Everything is just instantly up whenever I click anything.

how reliable is SSD compared to normal hdd?
Expensive. Never personally owned one. There are different routes to take besides that. It depends what you are trying to do. A WD Velociraptor 300GB drive (10,000 RPMs) has been doing a lot for me with gaming. Although this was about ~2 years ago when I built my monster. I have a GTX 295 graphics card and they are at a GTX 580 TI within -2 years. That is just insanity. I want to upgrade, but right now I'm stuck buying car parts. As soon as I upgrade, something new and better will come out.
