Default Anyone else applying to law school?

I know we had a decent handful of people here who took the LSAT back in September and I wanted to see if anyone was parlaying that into applications for next fall.

I just sent in a few applications and plan on sending the rest either later today or tomorrow. The LSAC and LSDAS are the most tedious and annoying services for completing your applications IMO.

Are you by any chance applying to University of Hawaii? I work at the Law School admissions office there. I've been processing applications all month.

I thought about it briefly, but I determined it's too far for me. I hope you can keep your sanity for the next month or so!

IUPUI, part time. horrendous LSAT back in Sep, plan a re-take in Feb. if I get rejected. I heard the December test was pretty tough scale wise.

Just out of curiousity....why do you guys want to become lawyers?

I had a great roommate in college and now he is a ****ing "workers comp" lawyer in Pittsburgh.... i hope like hell he is still a good guy but they are notorious for being scumbags....

my work has wasted $$$$$ defending against jackass lawyers who completely exagerate everything some dickbag did... eventually we win in court but after spending $$$ to do it.

anyway.....goodluck to everyone getting in and doing well.....

I don't want to become a lawyer. I will likely end up practicing law for a short time after I graduate, but my ambition is to start my own business. I could never be a "workers comp" attorney. However, being educated in law will provide me skills relevant to running a successful business (i.e. contract negotiation).

Not all attorneys are "ambulance chasers." In fact, 70% of attorneys will never see a court room. Attorney's are in politics, work for non-profit organizations, own businesses, prosecute criminals, teach, etc.

I'm sure your friend is still a good guy... he's just a good guy with a shitty job. Then again, you may one day find yourself hurt on the job, unable to work, dipping into your savings and retirement, struggling to provide for your family, medical bills mounting... and you may begin to see the necessity for workers comp attorneys.

^ Why don't you get an MBA instead (and take b-law classes)? Why is being a workers comp. attorney a "shitty job?"

Running out of time there. The later you apply, the fuller the classes will be at the schools you apply to.

Scot, going to law school doesn't necessarily mean you're going to become a lawyer. My ultimate goal is to be a sports agent and a J.D. is the first step. Doesn't mean I may not eventually become a lawyer in another area but you have to take the first step.
