Default Anyone ever have cancel a cashier's check?

To make a long story short, I attempted to send someone a cashier's check (NOT a personal check) from my bank through UPS.

Went to the UPS store and shipped it out via one of their flat envelopes. It was supposed to be delivered Friday, yet the tracking information never updated from "Billing Information Received." Called the UPS store and they told me that they called UPS and were told that sometimes "UPS does not always scan smaller packages and just delivers them" and that the package "was enroute for delivery on Friday."

Package never showed, tracking info has to ever be updated, and now UPS is telling me that it was never even scanned into the system to be shipped.

I am going to cancel the cashier's check in case it was stolen/lost but has anyone ever done that before and/or have any information about it?

ps - this is the SECOND package of mine that UPS has done this to this week! At least there is insurance on the second in case anything goes wrong

I would have used registered mail for a situation like this.

Yes you can put a stop payment on an Official/Cashiers/Bank check. You will need to contact your bank immediatly and will probably need to go into a branch to fill out an "affidavit of lost instrument". They probably won't issue a new one for 1-3 business days depending on the bank.

Also, depending on how big the check was, they may require you to buy a bond or wait 90 days.

I once had a client have a 100,000+ bank check go missing. Ohhh what a headache.

Yeah, I called the bank and they said they can put a stop-payment but it would be 90 days till the funds get put back in my account. I guess 'cause it was a $1,300 check.

They said that my branch MIGHT be able to refund my money right away depending on circumstance

Thanks for the info Cubs
