You can't win unless you try, but the payoff is better than trying to win a slot jackpot. At least you have a longer time to dream about the money.

 

Powerball odds are 1 in 120 million for the jackpot. Yes the odds are ludacris, but I have a few friends at work and we chip in a dollar a piece if the pot goes above $70 mill or so. About once a year we win $3. Not each, $3 total. Probably put in about $10 -$15 a year each. My stocks having been losing money at a slower rate.

It is no big deal for me to waste $10 a year on it, but sometimes when the jackpots are huge you see toothless raggedy poor folks spending $50-$100 for tickets. These people do not understand probability or personal hygiene.

When is the last time you saw a toothless raggedy person at a powerball winners press conference? Oops, I spoke too soon. A former MN winner is up on manslaughter charges. She was driving with some folks in her car while drunk and said to her passengers "Now THIS is how you drive crazy" and started swerving all over the place and killed two people. She also had meth in her purse.

It seems millions of dollars can not buy class or good judgement.

 

I have a feeling I'm going to hit the jack pot this week.
