those are very nice sets, but not if you want 1080p

If you buy it online, shipping should be insured, and the set warrantied by the manufac.. so any problems after that are taken care of my the manufac, not the seller.

Of course that would be IF the online retailer is an authorized seller.

Its actually easier. At least that way, UPS of whoever pays for it. What if YOU break it on your drive home?

Warranty in the US is a law. If the product is sealed, if I buy a plasma from my local bodega, the manufacturer, by law, has implied warranty. They cannot renouce warranty that easily. Just because it wasnt purchased from an authorized dealer, doesnt mean the product isnt the same, and it doesnt mean they are no longer responsible for it.

Second, if you have a problem, you call up the manufacturer, and tell them you have a problem. If they ask you where you got it, you say it was a gift. They will ask you for your serial number. Since the tv IS real, and the serial number IS real, they have no grounds as to decline your warranty.

Third, almost nothing ever happens to plasmas that is honored by warranty. Burn in IS NOT covered.

Forthly, if you do buy from best buy, you will have to deal with them, and let me tell you, dealing with Circuit City or Best Buy is no picnic.

why is that?? Their shady advertising? Their shadier employees? Their lack of respect and willingness to help?

Haha sorry man she can't on anything big like that. Best Buy can apparently be pretty strict if she starts buying a lot of big items with her discount because they think she is buying and reselling, or buying for friends.
