I grew up on a tobacco farm in eastern NC. Worked in it every year until I was 22. Its the hardest job I've ever done but I miss it.

 

can you successfully home cure it? i keep hearing varying reports from , i did it in 12 weeks...to it needs 5 years in a barn at the exact humidity/temp.

luckily my climate seems perfect for it, at least for the next 7 months.

 

What type of tobacco are you growing? Are you making cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco? Most importantly, why? Unless you smoke a few dozen packs a day, I can't imagine you'd be better off growing your own rather than buying cigarettes from the quikie mart.

 

namely we are gonna grow it for the flowers, but was considering harvesting some and curing it just for the heck of it.
