Anyone had same problem before?
Yeah, I decided to jump on the Blue-Ray bandwagon finally. And my PC (Windows Vista, 64 Bit) doesn't seem to "get" it. Pops up the Windows Media Player when I insert my Blue Ray disc in question, but plays the on-line stream of a college station radio I was listening to like 6 months ago when I click on the play button LOL!
A quick Googling on the subject landed me this little "heated" (and hilarious conversation):

Anyways, that pretty much sums up my situation (although the starter of that particular thread above had Windows 7 instead of Vista). So I'm sure most of you have run into this problem before, I assume?
So what do I need to do to play my blue ray edition of Planet Earth (this is visually a stunning piece BTW, highly recommended) on my PC?
Maybe, if all else fails, this can be a good excuse for me to buy a PS3?
Oh, BTW, screw this "Amrita M" the MicroSHAFT "Answers Engineer!!"
TIA

Few posts down the way.
No personal experience myself, I have a BluRay player.
There are 2 applications that integrate with Media Center very well for Blu-ray playback, PowerDVD (http://www.cyberlink.com/products/po...iew_en_US.html) and TotalMedia Theatre (http://www.arcsoft.com/estore/softwa...ductCode=TMT3P)
I had to use a program that came with the blue ray i purchased on the cpu. Sadly it took about 45min to download an update to let it play and it still asks for an update anytime it opens. Which i have to decline or it screws up. Not alot of fun dealing with that. Most of the time i give up and just use the PS3

Besides needing the correct software, you need to make sure your video card and monitor are HDCP compliant.

As stated, buy PowerDVD which now supports Blu-Ray. Did you just buy this PC? Which CPU did you end up getting?
Im about to build a new PC myself.
