Default Anyone here from Germany?

A co-worker just handed me a small bottle that says...

On the Front...
Kleiner Feigling
Feige Mit Wodka
Behn Originale Eckernforde
0,02l

On the back...
Likor 0,02 l
20% Vol

The person that gave it to him said... before you drink it tap the bottom of the bottle three times... and the clear liquid inside turns white... then drink it..

What is this stuff?!?!? I know it is liquor... and possibly vodka... but I have never heard of a clear liquor that turns white after shaking it very hard.

Thanks everyone..

My German is quite rusty, but feige means fig or coward.

Fig with vodka.

Kleiner feigling sounds like little coward.

Behn Originale Eckernforde: quien sabe?

0,02l means 0.02 liter, or about 1 ounce.

Various liquors and liqueurs turn white when mixed with water (Ouzo, Pernod, Ricard, to name a few), so maybe there's water in there which the tapping releases.

Drink up! And let us know what it's like.

Also, I'd imagine that 20% Vol means that it's 40 proof: 20% alcohol by volume.

My son (who took three years of German), says that "Behn Originale Eckernforde" means something along the lines of "from the original sponsor"--maybe from the original distillery, or original formula or whatever.

Hey guys and gals,

We are in Germany right now and our German friends said that it is a liquor made from Vodka and that it is a tradition to tap the bottom of the bottle 3 times but are unaware of the liquid turning white in color.........bottoms up!!!

Cheers,

Barry and Donna

I'd have to agree with that. My German is really crappy (though I lived there for 3 years) but it is a vodka drink and though I've never had one, I've seen it imbibed quite a few times. The Table tapping seems to be the equivalent of raising glasses for a toast. I also don't ever remember seeing it turning any colors.

Prost!
