Locally (at leasst) Dish does not carry local stations. DTV does have occasional issues with break up, especially during heavy storms which come in from the direction in whichthe dish is pointed. I like the fact that just about any issues can be cleared up with a phoine call and a representative walking me through a few steps rather than a call, an appointment, half a day waitingnfor someone to deign to show up. Internet with DTV is crazy expenssive. I use Comcast for internet (and phone) since thay are the only high speed option in my town.

I've had Directv for some time now. I've had it at 3 different houses and I've never had an issue with signal loss. Been very happy with their customer service as well, especially compared to Comcast, who I dropped because their service sucked soo bad, especially for how much they charge. I currently have two HD DVR boxes and a standard def DVR.

I am resurrecting this dead horse to mention one thing and to once again point out why I hate DirecTV. In my original post I pointed out they were mistakenly blacking out games on ESPN or local Sports pay network that were not supposed to be blacked out and that they never took any responsibility, made any customer concessions, or even apologized for doing so.

It appears, from our local paper that DirecTV was blacking out games for people in our market who had paid to get the NCAA all access packages. People who paid to specifically get ALL the games were getting games blacked out. The people who work in whatever office that assigns the blackouts must snort old douche bags.

Hey want NFL sunday ticket to get all the games? Pay a bunch off money and you'll get them, unless we screw up again in which case you just got ripped off!!!!! ONLY ON DIRECTV!!!!!

Ive had Directv for tv only for 12 years. Just got a HDTV and they upgraded my dish and installed it for free. Picture is great. I live on a hill 1500 altitude and get winds and rain over 50mph often. Never had a problem losing picture.
I agree with all of that. I'm also at 1,500 feet with sometimes high winds. I'm happy with DirecTV.

I have had nothing but positive experience with DTV. If your signal isn't good, you can tune it with two people in less than a minute. Can't say about blackouts, but I only lose a signal when a huge stormcell parks above me. Far more reliable over my old cable.
