Default Anyone in here have Karting experience?

I am looking to get into the sport of karting and would greatly appreciate any pointers/tips experienced karters could offer me. Any overall tips, i.e. classes to start in, etc. As well as a reputable place to look for a used kart, as I am just trying it out for the first time I do not wish to throw in a whole lot of cash to begin with but rather test the waters with a used kart. Thanks in advance

I'd like to hear some tips on technique! I tried the transfer of body weight in a corner technique, but I don't think I'm doing it right. I don't see betters times. I just get really tired.

To be competative its like any other form of motorsport, skill and $$$$$. If your simply looking for a hobby you can get in cheap. If you want to be competative and race at higher than a regional level i know families with 9 year old kids spending 120k+ for a karting season.

I have done a handful of HPDE events and track days. I am 21 about 150 lbs. I am looking to start in a class in which it would be possible for me to learn the ropes and work my way up to racing in without having to upgrade to a different kart/class once I feel I have a firm grasp on the techniques

See whats available in your area. Usually there are 80cc, 100cc classes for beginners.

The most popular class is probably 125cc TAG right now, but its quite a bit of a step up. Of course, nothing is stopping you from going to an open track day and running a restrictor. Over here, the smaller engine classes aren't too popular.

Expect to spend 5-8 grand starting out depending on your choice of a used kart and different gear. Thats assuming you have a truck/trailer or van to haul it in. Check out http://www.ekartingnews.com/
