Anyone here owns a Caterham?
I think that's because most of the models on the road the 100-150+hp range. Though the car is light at 1200+ lbs, it just doesn't have enough power post 100mph. The light weight can't compensate for it. But those with over 200hp is another story.
So it would be a really good cornering machine but if you are looking for a drag car, it isn't a good platform to start with IMHO.
I have never sat in one personally, but I would imagine the experience on one's senses is incomparable to what I have experienced in other cars. I have had some go-cart experiences and I think it would be similar to what the Caterham provides. The go-carts I rode was in the 20-40mph range and it seemed much faster than 60mph in a normal car.
If one is not looking to race anybody, the car would provide tons of fun on backroads, which is what I am aiming for.

Caterhams are only one of the several versions of Lotus Seven Inspired Roadsters "LSIR" cars. The Westfield is the most advanced and best of these, has a real independent rear suspension and a bigger cockpit than a Caterham. I currently drive a Westfield SEight with a Rover V8 engine, which is now for sale because I am replacing it with a new one using the S2000 engine and gearbox. Information at http://www.alamosportscars.com. Disclaimer: my company distributes Westfields.

I was actually thinking that the S2000 engine would make a great motor for this car... please post a followup when you get it all sorted.
Saw the site and the engine combinations are incredible... I'm sure the Haybusa and Blackbird engines are fun, but you have to try and get a V-twin in it... like my 1000cc RC-51 engine!

wellllll..i dunno...as an ex- super seven owner i tend to think of the caterham as a more legitimate heir to the lotus throne than the westfield...in any case don't think of one as daily transportation....the noodling/driving ratio just doesn't work out..you might want to check out my "lotusland" note at the s2ki site ..[at least i think it's there...]
