Default Anyone with sinus infection or asthma?

Last week I somehow triggered an asthma event, my first in about 6-7 years. I wqent to the doctor and got medicine and healed up, but the following weekend I drank too much alcohol and suffered a cold, which has went to a fever, then chest cold, then sinus infection, and now I believe I triggered another asthma event.

Anyone know anyone natural ways to help treat this? This is the first time with a cold or the like in over 2 years. I eat healthy, sleep well, lift weights and excercise and I cant believe my luck brings me this (in particular the initial unprovoked) asthma event.

My face is in so much pain and it hurts sometimes so much. I tried putting a hot towel on my face and taking medication like Tylenol and Nyquil but these medications are temporary and I dont like the fact that the acetomenophan is probably killing my liver.

Anyone have any similar experience and what did you do to help remedy it? Any help is appreciated.

I have chronic allergy (only in CA...go figure) related asthma, I feel your pain man, it sucks. If your attacks are really uncommon, I would just buy some off-the-shelf Primatine mist and keep it on/around you all the time. I get it the worst at night and in the morning, so I take a hit of it every couple mornings and it keeps me going. Just as long as you aren't using it everyday, twice a day, you should be okay. As always, consult with your physician first, but be prepared for a very generic response

Actually, maybe you're allergic to something too...did you eat something different the past few weeks? Maybe inhaled something you're not usually around? Now that I think of it, it really sounds like some freak allergy.

I have asthma and had my first attack in a long time about a week ago. In my case it was definately a quick allergic reaction. I went to bed as clear as possible and I woke up in a short-breathed panic. My lungs weren't filled with the usual mucous. I pulled the nebulizer out of the closet and used it for 5 minutes, cleared right up and went back to bed. It was freaky. In the morning i had my wife check me over for spider bites since i'm allergic to most insect bites/stings.
I'd look into getting an inhaler or nebulizer of some type.

I wanted to clear up a few things i noticed in your post.

First, you can't get a cold from drinking alcohol.

Second, It is very rare to have a fever with a cold. You sound like you have the flu or something else with all those symptoms.

Third, it's funny how you are worried about a little Acetaminophen affecting your liver. I guess the "drinking too much alcohol" doesn't figure into that at all. Only extremely large doses or constant dosing with alcohol are going to affect your liver. You'll need something to knock your fever down. Acetaminophen is a good choice.

Fourth, There are 200 known viruses that cause colds and even the healthiest of us can't fight them all off.

Actually, you probably aren't drinking enough alcohol. Alcohol kills germs, you know!

(I know, I know, it can suppress your immune system, but I doubt that had anything to do with catching a cold.)

I agree about the Tylenol, though. If you drink, you should never take Tylenol. I would suggest aspirin.

I'm not a doctor, but I play on on the Internet.

Ask your doctor for an "asthma action plan".

DISCLAIMER: Since I can not examine you, and have to access to your medical records, radiologic studies, etc, the above is only generalized advice not specific to your case and should not be considered a medical consultation and you should visit a physician that can examine you.

Are you asking for solutions to the allergy, or the sinus infetion?

I've gotten numerous sinus infections. It's obvious when you get one because your mucus comes out in grey/green colors. My understanding is that it's the white blood cells fighting off the bacterial infection. I don't know what can be done for prevention. But the only cure that actually does anything is a course of antibiotics. The last one I did, which worked really well, was something called a Z-Pack. Only five days worth and it cleared up the infection really well.
