AR-15

any decent lower is ok. I have an LAR lower that i got for $99, the one that's pricey is the upper assembly where most of the action is taking place. get one that's ready for 5.56, although you'll be using .223

I also had just picked up a GSG-5L and it absolutely a blast to shoot and cheap to!! for being a .22lr, it is pretty damn accurate even to the 200yrd targets.
Mine was dead nuts on the mark right out of the box

So my upper from DSA took the logest to arrive. Almost everything else came right away. I still need sights and optics, but the gun is done and shootable. Here are some crappy pics of my california legal AR-15. And yes. It was built in my bathroom with scotch and cigars lol.
Felt awkward when I first shot it but got used to it quick.
Building a 50 cal AR next
you know while we got this thread going...I'm having a real tough time choosing optics. For two reasons...
1. I don't want to have to choose between a 1X reflex red dot system (which is the fastest for close range target acquisition) and a scope that will allow me to see well up to 300 yards. For anything past that, my next project will be a .308 bolt rifle.
2. I don't want to spend twice as much as I paid for the rifle on optics for something like an Elcan specter DR or SP short dot...
I found this cheap scope that offers the perfect solution, but I can't see myself putting something cheap like this on my AR. I wish there was a quality option for a unit like this at a reasonable price...
CHEAP TEMPTING SCOPE
oh and if you go to look at the scope, notice how the BCG is magnesium. HTF do I get one like that?

I have an Aimpoint CompM3 on mine, and I chose no magnification due to my rifle not being a precision setup. If i went along the lines of a 20" barrel, I'd probably get a scope of some kind.
I wouldnt put cheap airsoft crap on your rifle. You can find Eotech's (512's) for around 350 used...even a little less.
If you cant afford what you want, I'd just stick with iron sights until you save up. Get proficient with those, there is nothing wrong with them.
There are a few options out there that are pretty reasonable. I looked at the burris XTS-135.
Check out www.ar15.com and look at their EE - ive seen some nice weapon sights on there for reasonable prices.
My friend just got an Eotech 512....other than being a little long (and taking A batteries), its a sweet sight and am thinking about getting one for my new rifle...
I just found a real good option for me. pretty penny but I think I'll be happy with it. I'm not sure if it'll be nitrogen filler or not. it should be considering Buris is a good brand...

That looks like a nice piece.....however if you just wanted that magnification you aren't too far from ACOG prices

________
you know what's funny is that a lot of punk kids playing video games might know more about shooting with a scope than I do. Are there any really good games that have scope training?
