I dont know where you live...but down here there is no more ARCO....they were
taken over by Vastar.....which became part of BP....British pertroleum. If thats
the same company i dont know. Its possible it could be BP gasoline.

WOW....I have not seen an ARCO station in over 20 years. Do you live up north? I remember we had ARCOs in Pennsylvania. The sign was red, white and blue with a torch in the middle....that one right??

We have plenty of ARCOs here in the SoCal area. I've been using it for years and years in a number of cars. NEVER a problem, no knocking, no nothing. They are able to sell it for less than anyone else because they do not accept credit cards so no fees to the CC companies.

Go for it.

i stopped using Arco after hearing complaints about shady station owners jacking people's debit card numbers and PIN on KNX1070.

Arco denies this of course, but a large number of incidents have happened, BofA and San Bernadino Cnty Sheriffs are all involved right now.

speaking of fuel, i didn't have a problem with it at 91 (on my modded WRX) or 87 for my wife's accord.

I don't use ARCO because http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers.html doesn't list it.

Last time I checked Honda recommended Top Tier Gas xD

For me I only use three brands in this preference order (Don't ask why, I was raised this way haha)

1.Chevron
2.Shell
3.76ConocoPhillips (Desperate)

I *think* Arco's quality is slightly less than BP and Texaco, which has been merged with something else, because of the less effective filtration system and other stuff. Come to think of it, I haven't seen Texaco for a while. I think it has merged with Shell or BP or something. Chevron has always been one of the good ones, but it's rather more expensive than Arco. There's also Safeway gas.

Pretty much all the gas in a certain area comes from the same refinery. The only differences would be in-tank issues, like water in the tanks, or rust. In addition, different brands require different additives. You are probably best off buying the highest grade of any brand, if additives are your point of concern. I don't know of any study that has found one additive better than another. People can make any claims they want about their brand, but the reality is that gas is gas. Top-Tier is an additive marketing gimmick. Your car manufacturer might recommend some kind of tires or oil, but that certainly doesn't mean anything else is inherently bad for your vehicle. It is merely a marketing deal.

Chevron merged with Texaco, under FTC agreements Texaco had to sell all their
retail outlets. Thats why you havent seen a Texaco station.
