As a amateur artist, I can tell you there is nothing more infuriating than the moment you break the lead of the charcoal pencil you've been sharpening. I'm actually interested in that one contraption that seems to promote consistent knife strokes for exposing and creating long sharp lead. You need a lead that is about half inch long. Pencil sharpening...it's a serious business
