Default Artist help needed

I am looking for a website that has the colors used by Impressionist painters and the origin of the colors. Any help is welcome.

uhhmmm...what do you mean by colors used? You have to be more specific...origins of the colors? You mean like where does cobalt blue get its color from? Or titanium white?

Like colors in their palette. Like mauve or indigo or whatever. And by origin I just need to know if it's organic or synthetic.

There's no books or anything on the internet.

Best bet is to probably go all the way back to the earlier introduction of oils...I could be wrong, but I don't think paint technology has evolved that much between these periods. All still oils as far a I can remember.

I think it would be key to identify specific painters and use that to look up what paints were on their palettes. I remember vaguely that there was a large jump forward in manufactured pigments avaliable at the time of the impressionists which was a factor that influenced the use of colour in their work.

You may be able to find some good information on this website - http://www.artrenewal.org/. I do not agree with some of their thinking, but they are an invalubale web resource.

This link be of use as well. http://www.lilinks.com/mara/history.html

Also, classically colors such as blue were extremely rare and expensive... ultramarine for example. It was derieved from the mineral lapiz lazuli and was used sparingly. You can find ultramarine usually used for the robes of the virgin mary and the christ child.

Are we doing your homework for you?

Yeah you were doing my HW

But that was after an hour of trying every type of search and going to the bookstore to find books. I did find a website that had a list and luckily it had enough. Thank you for your time though. ALl the professor said was to find a color used by Impressionists, identify whether its synthetic or organic and tell me who used it. Luckily, I found a palette for MOnet.
