depends on your computer setup... ATI makes damn sweet cards... but they're drivers suck arse. So you gotta make sure you have a good motherboard that supports the ATI card your throwing in.. or get used to random reboots

NVIDIA makes huge cards that need massive power supply which lead to high CPU temps.. which some ppl might not care about, but they're cards are damn comparable to ATI and are much more user friendly, have better drivers, and ONLY install drivers, not all this stupid control panels and dvd software that you don't need like ATI...

I can't say one is better than the other... because benchmarking speeds are pretty much the same.... new comp = ATI.. old comp to upgrade vid card = nvidia IMO.

Im an Nvidia whore! Ever since I my friend purchased an ATI card and he had to wait to play games like Counter-Strike because the ATI cards needed patches. Even new cards still need patches to run games correctly.

exactly.. ATI has too many software/driver issues... once you get em all sorted out.. its great... but NVIDIA is great out of the box for anything..

I have a ATI 9600XT btw.. but also used the 5700Ultra Nvidia..

all that means to me is that the "old-top-of-the-line" goes on sale.
The cards he mentioned up top ARE the new chipsets. You're right, these will drive the previously top-of-the-line cards down in price a bunch.
