Default Attempts to get a "virtual" gear

I was driving the other day and insisted on trying to find sixth gear in my 5-spd Accord. I sure am glad for that lockout of reverse while the car is at speed! My boss was in the car and I don't think I've been that embarrassed in a while. I'm a good shifter but that one really took the cake for destroying any impression I may have given as a "good" driver.

Anyone else ever gone hunting for the "next" gear when it really doesn't exist (in any car, not just an S2000)?

I do the same in my beater Civic, esp. after 2-3 weekend days driving the S...Still groggy on Monday morning and trying to shift to 6th gear...big grinding noise. Come to think of it, that is how I'm always so alert after arriving to work

LOL. No kidding - a grind will wake up the sleepiest driver in the morning!
