Default Attention Diabetics and Morons.........

I bought a package of sugar free Jolly Ranchers the other day. Damn they are tasty. Yummy.

Ate half a bag while doing chores around the house. Then had a big meal.

About an hour later my stomach felt like there were whirlpool jets going inside it. I thought "What the hell is in those jolly ranchers?"

I look on the back of the bag, "Warning:Over consumption can have a laxative effect."

Doh. I never felt so sick in my life. I guess I fall into the second category.

I did that once with sugar free gummy bears. I learned my lesson. I think it's the effect of the sugar replacement that they use in place of the real thing.

If the product contained olestra, I'm not surprised. Check this site: http://www.diabetesmonitor.com/olestra.htm

Yeah, there are 4 general types of diarrhea
secretory
osmotic
exudative
motility disorder

It would seem that you might have osmotic diarrhea. Here you ingest something that is not absorbed by the small intestine. Instead this material draws fluid or water back into the lumen of the small bowel (which is usually the opposite of what god intended). Now you have the squirts

Oh yeah... olestra definately causes the oily squirts... first time I ate some olestra potato chips... Like the name says on the bag WoW!

This goes for all those carbfriendly foods--since they are replacing sugars with sugar alcohols--these sugar alcohols cannot be digested even though they taste sweet. Its sort of like fiber (cellulose)--your body cannot digest fiber because it lacks the enzyme cellulase. So based on this principle, the sugar alcohols act as fiber--thus making you need to take a crap. Be careful--its not fun to crap so much that it comes out clear like water.
