Attention Swimmers!
hey. what's up. ok.. so back in the 7th grade (9th now) when i really took up swimming for the first time, my 50 free was 57
and my 50 breast was 49
so i was PRETTY slow ... then during the 8th grade i did not swim at all. then in 9th grade, i went for the water polo team. the first week of hell-week was horrible.. swam about 4 miles free a day and ran 2 miles sprinting. it got me in relatively bad shape (i was about 1000x worse when i started).
then when water polo season actually started i was in OK shape.. i definitely couldn't last a whole game, but i could do some. by the middle of polo season my sprint for 100 free was 1:16.. not bad i guess and my 10 100s free was 1:55 with 15 secons to spare at the end.. probably at least 2 times faster than i was at the beginning.
then it ended, and we took 1 and half weeks off, then started to swim an hour a day. i was out of shape, and it took until almost the BEGINNING of SWIMMING season for me to get back, but damn, i was flying. 10 100s on the 1:40 ..
then i got an ear infection, on both ears.. RIGHT when i was at the peak of my improvement.. i had to miss 14 days of swimming and when i started again my ear infection was still there.. and i think it still is somewhat.
had to work my ass off to get back to 10 100s on the 2 minutes O_O and we start working on stroke again. i like breastroke and backstroke for my strokes.. well
we had a meet today (my first) and i found out i was doing 100 breast.. I HAD NEVER gone farther than 50 breast sprinting in my entire life .. well i sucked it up and i went. but damn i was dissapointed. it was 7 days since i came back from the ear infection and i didn't do very well. my first 50 was just as quick as the others.. at a 35.67seconds, but after that everythign started to feel like jello, i couldn't will myself like i could with freestyle.. i pushed myself to 1:05 before i got that ear infection. at the end i ended up with a 1:36.92 =/.. i just got so tired i barely could get myself up from the pool.
now to my question: is that just conditioning (lots and lots of sprinting 100 breast) or is it another problem? is there anyway you guys can help me to improve (like little tips)? this sounds impossible to pretty much everyone..
i am aiming for double 0 or better in free style by the end of the season (4 more weeks?) i swim my ass off in every practice and really think i can do this..
this is the hard one: 1:10-1:15 in 100 breast. this is the one i have problems with. i don't know why i get so tired at the end.. thanks for alll your help

Cliff notes?
j/k I read the whole thing. I don't swim, so I can't help you out much.
All the best though.
Btw, Shift, Kristin was on TV earlier, pretty much naked (as naked as I've ever seen her anyway).

Your strength is fine but your cardio system isn't delivering the goods when you want it to and your endurance is lagging. Do some long runs every single day that you are in school. 2K, 5K, 10K, whatever it takes. Yeah, they suck. But it is what your body needs to improve.
Sprints are nice and quick and easy, but ultimately they are only polish. It is not as easy to do the long runs, but the payoff is better. Set a regimen for yourself to do some distance runs every day that you are in school. Then, towards the end of the year, reward yourself with some sprints. The results will be longer lasting...and you will be much happier with the numbers.

well i began swimming my junior year of hs never did any competitve swimmingbefore that just sat in the pool during summers, i started the season as the slowest person on the team. My form (swim form) was really sloppy and within a week or two of working on form and endurance i mildly improved the first meet which was held about a month after practice began i was down to a 26 50 free and 1;05 for 100 free from there it just got better with practice. practice and more practice
