A couple of guys I know already do this, but it's EXPENSIVE.

The Numark USB turntable may offer some cost savings, and there's some other spots to cut corners, but to realize a profit in a reasonable time frame has been looking iffy the past couple of years. . . could turn the corner soon though.

However, if _I_ were to do it to _my_ liking, it's turning out to be ~$3/album before labor costs.

 

I'm going to state that I'm the exception that proves the rule: DRM can be your friend, depending on the circumstances.

That said, Apple Lossless sounds good. I like it. Raw bits are ideal though, and that'll be highly likely for the right price point possibly by the end of the year, or early 2008.

Computers are so easy to use these days, ripping music to an Ipod or HD is no more than a 3 step process. Even my 11yr old cousin can rip music without me teaching her.
