Back Pain...help
I have a huge pain in my back at the moment. It is eminating from my spine and goes just under my left shoulder blade.
It just came on this afternoon and has got progressively worse.
I am in agony with this thing and cannot get a comfortable position.
I think it is probably muscular.
Any tips, should I just rest it, apply heat / cold
Any help would be very much appreciated.

the pain is caused by excessive post-whoring on s2ki.com. =)
jk man.
but seriously, get ouf of the chair often, do several streaches with your back, I'd demo a few but heck, its difficult to describe some fo them. also, in sudden changes of weather - people who have had surgeries and or inflammations in joints will be affected the most. this is mainly caused by a change in air pressure and humidity around them.
just go easy on your back, you have only one of them.

Better living through chemicals... get some flexerall (sp?) muscle relaxers - or go get a massage.
Heat would be appropriate, as you think it is muscular. ElTianti is right - strong stomach + better back!

Somehow I would find it hard to take advice from someone who had a bab back for 12.5 years...!
The ice/heat debate rages on...using both is also an option - shocking... Ice slows circulation - restricts blood flow. Heat increases blood flow. Typically ice or ice/heat cycles are used when inflamation is involved. Go see your Doctor!
