Old school features like large capacity storage tanks and front panel jacks are only available on the high end models of whatever it is you're buying, and unless you're a technophile the high end models have too many other features that most people never use - I don't need 15 different HD inputs into my TV I just want access from the front panel!!!

Hey man Reliability rocks. That is why I do lots of research on almost every product I buy . I have an expectation of 10 to 15 year product life. I guess you missed my point on the features I find important are NOW MISSING on 2 of the products that have died.
My favorite reliability story belongs to my buddy with a 1990 model Nissan truck . He told me that it was losing compression but then again after driving it 17 years to work and with a whopping 502,000 miles that he guess he can't complain! I saw him a couple months ago and he said the truck is still running but not that well! Now that is reliability and you don't see any GM products with that kind of story!
You do if you look.

lol.. you cannot disprove acts of god... most people would agree that alot of times things go wrong, 3 things go wrong... its just what happens.. no literature or text or scientific studies could possibly exist to disprove that.

Most people, if offered an even bet on a coin toss and having seen the coin land heads five times in a row, would bet on tails, citing some mythical Law of Averages. These are the same people targeted by the Nigerians and Londoners mentioned here.

Twenty-million-housewives-can't-be-wrong is a frail reed on which to lean.

Innumeracy: "A term meant to convey a person's inability to make sense of the numbers that run their lives." So you are saying perhaps some people having heard "bad things happen in 3s" only look for three bad things to tie together to make this true so that it may easily be explained?

Interesting, but just realize that the idea of "innumeracy" itself is hypocritical, its making an excuse for why someone is doing something as "bad things happen in 3s" is an excuse why things are happening.
