Man, I hate people like that. All kinds of people who can dish it out but not take it in return. Though I probably wouldn't have poured water down his back, I don't have a problem with making fun of his baldness. That's just one thing you can always rip on him for to get your revenge. I'd quit the fooling around right away since it seems like the situation is more serious. You can't let that asshole ruin your job. Let this time play out as it will, but if it happens again, you need to raise hell to HR. For being 40, he certainly is acting like a 10 year old.

If it was me, at the point of him messing around with your private property, I would have immediately went to HR with the situation. To verbally mess around with someone happens all the time at my job and I find it to be a passtime every once in a while (not abusing it) and harmless, but at the one instant that someone would do something physical, then that's a different story.

Maybe this is a time where you should make buddy buddy with HR?!?!?!?!

This situation could go either way... either spoken to and put aside or other permanent measures... hard to say.

We are both called Ian,
A CO worker said he would be a witness to what this guy did so I have some support. He was there when he did it.

I would never be petty enought to go to HR over a little bit of water in my boot. It would be a bit like going to the Head master at school or dobbing someone in. For some reason that all seems petty to me!

This however makes me think a little differently. i have a good sense of humour and can take a joke. I shall keep you posted to what happens, thanks for the advice, all got of another place i post was how to make the situation worse with other pranks and violence!

to me it looks like this guy thinks your a threat to his job, are you/could you be a candidate that could do his job? or are they completely seperate?

I have met some people like this before, and it would seem that some of the things he does are things that are making you look bad, indrectly.

Like a few minutes late, by posting that on the board management are able to see that your time keeping may not be up to scratch even though its a few mins

Key's, you've lost some thing, may show your not organised? etc etc..

its just my view on the situation, but i'd be careful of what he's doing and how it might affect your career i might be very wrong though, sorry if i am

I saw him go off for a meeting with the other supervisor this morning. Luckily I bumped into her on lunch and she had a little word. She said he is a little bit of a odd chap and sided with me however said she thought both of us were acting childish and should grow up.
(Women just don't get the male banter do they?come to think of it I don't recall any women mucking around playing jokes on each other! I suspose they don't do it so much instead go into the toliets together and wipe each others front bottoms) anyway I found him on his own on lunch in another room so I knocked on the door and went in. he turned around and I said' hello have you got a minute'
he said' no''
i said 'well im going to say what i got to say anyway. lets both be a bit more proffesional as we got to work together. sorry if i went to far or upset you yesterday. Lets forget about it'
i then waited for him to turn round and he didn't i just got the back of his head and nothing. so i just said 'ok sorry mate and walked out'.
so i think i have done the manly thing and the rest is his problem. I asked the supervisor if i needed to take it any further or is it going to HR and she said she didn't think so, so i think its the end of that.

So i feel great and he is still pissed off but thats his problem not mine.

what a goober!

Well... that's definately cool that you have a witness. That person will definately come in handy. But since it's all resolved, it really doesn't matter anymore I suppose.

Well it all depends I guess on your personality. To you, it seems petty stuff what he was doing. I'm a very humurous person myself, but for example when he was hiding the keys to your bike... that's personal property... not cool. Let's say for example he did that and then an emergency arose and you had to leave like now and he's out to lunch, what would you do then?

Aside from all... I'm happy to hear that everything worked out for you...

Putney you did the right thing now. Ball is in his court, IMO, you are 'relieved' of the situation. Just keep youre cool and hang low for a bit to let things blow over and you should be good.
