Default being sued?

Long story short i listed my 2001 integra GS-R with a JDM ITR front end, semi built motor (pistons, rods, barings, head gasket, block guard, head studs, ect. basically everything besides sleveing the block), a put together turbo kit(not ebay), TSW wheels, ect to a kid in MS. I live in PA. He saw the car on ebay and decided to contact me about it without ebay. I didn't mind because i wouldn't have to pay ebay fees. Well the car was listed for 8000 bucks because i just wanted to get rid of it. Small stuff here and there kept going wrong and i finally got it running perfect so i decided to sell it. He paid 5500 bucks for the car. I told him i would take some parts off to make it even like the Hondata, injectors, shift light, and i think that's basically it. I put a fmu on it for him so it would run okay while he had to drive it to get tuned.

He is now trying to sue me for 4,000 dollars because he said it doesn't run right. I told him specifically he should get bigger injectors, a tune, a ecu, and just get the car rechecked. Before he gets the car he buys new wheels and stuff he doesn't need to have and starts to complain that he doesn't have money for the stuff i told him to buy. He then drives the car and slaps on bigger injectors so that he could turn up the boost on the car and it starts acting up. He drives the car and says it drives like sh!t. Of course it drives like sh!t it needs a damn ecu and a tune.

Is there really anything this kid could do? He didn't buy it off of ebay so theres no ebay regulations on the vehicle, but even if there was ebay states that on older cars that state as-is there is nothing that they can do to help. Any input would be great if you guys actually know what your talking about. I looked into it and I don't think there is much they could do and in my opinion they're wasting their time.

As long as your bill of sale states "seller makes no claims as to condition, car is being sold AS IS" (as should be noted on ANY bill of sale) there is nothing he can do. GL

if you're really worried call a lawyer. Given the story above, I personally wouldn't be worried at all. You said he's 'trying to sue you'... what does that mean... cause if he just threatened you, ignore it and laugh.

Only way a judge would recind the sale is if the buyer is under 18. Under 18, still a minor and can't enter into contracts.
How old was the "kid" when he bought the car?

When I worked in retail, I heard that shit all the time...many of these customers couldn't even pay their bills on time...I'm sure they didn't even have a pre-paid legal services... I really at people who say, "I'm gonna call my lawyer." Please...STFU. If you really are, just go fawkin' do it...

Couldn't have said it better. To the OP, I wouldn't worry about anything.

Lol he's 19ish I think over 18 though. He did contact a lawyer already and they sent me a letter today. He wants 4000 for restitution but for what? I don't know why he wants money he could easily part the car out and make 6-8g. He contacted an independent mechanic and stuff and they have documents. From what his lawyer told me they could send a warrent For my arrest and have me sent to Mississippi to fight it or what ever. I would think he woul have to come to pa but I guess not. This is all unnessesary headache because a kid didn't want to wait to tune the car. Literally fml haha

I'm no lawyer or anything but this seems like a load of BS. As long as you sold the car "AS IS" there is nothing they can do, the law is on your side.

Wait till the kid actually HIRES a lawyer to sue you for 4k...I think he will be quite suprised when he finds out it costs 4k in legal fees to sue for 4k hah.

i used to just shrug it off since i knew it was just another empty threat.

OP - as aforementioned, if the car was sold "as-is", he has no recourse. just asked my old man whos an attorney and thats pretty much what he told me. best of luck.
