The best way to see Robotech is to completely avoid that horrendous travesty. Watch "Macross Super Dimension Fortress" to see the TRUE story of Robotech (the japanese version). The Harmony Gold raping of Macross still pisses me off to this day. Macross, to me, is the only true storyline for the Robotech universe. Also, even though it wasn't a TV cartoon, Macross Plus is one of THE defining anime's of the 90's.... EXCELLENT story, awesome visuals and some really ing cool mecha fights

As for best cartoons of all time: Saber Rider and the Star Sherriffs, Transformers and Transformers: Second Generation, X-Men Evolution, and Dino-Riders (now who remembers THAT show? )

Starblazers was excellent, but I prefer the original Japanese (Yamato) version. Tey didn't muck it up to the same extent Macross was for Robotech, but it was bad enough for me.
